The red-circled coordinates are three years old, and Sloane Mara has spent every one of those years making herself indispensable enough that no one would think to look at her twice. She runs the Blackridge dispatch floor with the precision of someone who has something to prove — because she does. A man named Remy Vasquez never made it home, and the routing decision that put him in the wrong place at the wrong time was hers.
Then Dante Reyes walks through her door. Chicago enforcer. Stranded by a BQE shutdown. Authorized by both families to find the leak that killed his driver. He does not know her face. She knows exactly who he is.
With sleet sealing every exit and the routing archives open between them, Sloane has one night to manage an investigation from the inside — feeding Dante enough truth to look cooperative while steering him away from the timestamp that would name her. But proximity is its own kind of evidence, and Dante is very good at reading what the data doesn’t say. When someone inside the Chicago crew turns the audit into an ambush, the only way either of them survives is to trust the one person with every reason not to.
