The ash plains of Cinderward do not forgive, and neither does Soleil Brier. A fae mapwright who has spent her life charting the ruins her mother’s trust helped create, she enters the Veiled Market’s dusk-only stall to claim the one thing she was promised: a ruined sky-temple house on the edge of the world, and a future no crown can touch. What she finds instead is Lucian Ives — shadowbound prince, weapon of the Cinderward throne, and the last man she would ever choose to share a room with, let alone an inheritance.

The blood-written clause is merciless. Both their names are inked into the same contract. By dawn, only one heir may claim the house — but only if the other’s blood seals the sigil. Refuse, and the house falls to an old gods cult hungry for a war-room. Bound inside the cramped, lantern-lit stall by flaring ash magic and shadow oaths, with rebel envoys and crown spies circling outside the canvas walls, Soleil and Lucian have one night to decide whether to destroy each other or dare something far more dangerous.

There is a third option hidden inside the clause. Finding it means trusting a man she blames for everything she has lost — and admitting that the pull between them is not hatred alone.
