Moonveil Pack

The Alpha's Unchosen Mate

Under the Cascades moon, a scent bond can be refused. Cassia Quill has built her career on that single, hard-won right — drafting the contracts that protect omegas from the pack hierarchy’s oldest trap. She never expected to end up on a rain-slick Seattle fire escape, signing one herself. Ex-hunter. Newly turned alpha enforcer. The one man whose scent still unravels her careful composure. Leif Ghent is waiting on that narrow landing with a legal pad and a rival crew’s graffiti glowing in the alley below, and the Moonveil alpha is not asking. One lunar cycle. A filmed, public scent-bond bargain to hold a disputed block. In exchange, Leif testifies at the Cascades lodge on behalf of the omega-refusal reform Cassia has spent years trying to force through the elders’ iron grip. The clauses are clear. The boundaries are negotiated. The cameras are rolling. What neither of them accounts for is the moment they step into each other’s space and the old, refused bond-scent roars back to life — louder than the law, louder than the contract drying in the rain between them. Now Cassia is living inside the very kind of bargain she has always warned her clients against, and Leif is questioning every loyalty he has left. The block must be held. Mina’s refusal must stand. And somewhere between the boundary forests and the lodge porch, a temporary arrangement is becoming something neither of them knows how to refuse. But can a bond drafted in ink and desperation ever become something freely, irrevocably chosen — or will the elders find a way to turn Cassia’s own words into a cage?
