The exile order sits on the fire escape railing, its Ashen court seal going soft in the Seattle drizzle, and Heidi Whitaker has exactly one rule: don’t touch it. Don’t touch it, don’t think about what it means, and above all don’t let anyone close enough to smell the bond she’s spent six months burying under ward-smoke and sheer will. She clawed her freedom out of Moonveil’s teeth when the alpha branded her a broken, “unstable omega” and signed her away. She is not giving it back.
Then Leander Nash steps onto the slick metal steps to serve the order in person, and everything she buried comes roaring back to the surface.
He’s a rival enforcer with a territorial claim on her block and a voice like low thunder, and the scent-bond she thought was dead snaps awake the moment he’s close enough to breathe. He offers her a lifeline — register the building as buffer territory, buy time before the full moon deadline — but the price is a transfer-mate contract that would tie her name to his. After Moonveil, Heidi knows exactly what contracts do to omegas who let themselves need something.
